Education

School of the Art Institute of Chicago—BFA Program, fall 2009 to present.  Studio courses include Fiber and Embellishment techniques, Object Creation, Painting, Puppet and Its Theatre.

Theater Design and Production
            Spring 2010—creating solo puppet show, original work. Design, produce and perform.

Summer 2009—produced two tombstones for independent film by Marc Morgan.

Spring 2009—Produced “Sparky” the dead dog for Will Act For Food’s production of “American Notes.” 

Spring 2009--Assisted with production of “kitty” the dead cat for The Factory Theater’s production of “Dead Wrong.”

Fall 2008—Created Cicero –puppet head on pole for Will Act For Food’s production of  “Frankenstein in Love” by Clive Barker.

Summer 2006—Built masks for Mummers and the Queen for Bristol Renaissance Faire.

Spring/Summer 2002—refurbished Jinx the Jester puppet. Built Pirate Booty puppet and helped build Marionette Master for Bristol Renaissance Faire.

2000— Taos, New Mexico--created masks for University Texas Panamerican’s production of “The Tempest.”

2000— Taos, New Mexico --costumer for Taos Children’s Theatre production of “Arabian Nights.”

Fall 1995—created masks for Theatre Building’s production of “Fat Tuesday.”

Fall 1993 and 1994—Hades Haunted House—Set decorator, props builder.

Spring 2008—West Side Art Show—Evanston, Illinois—paintings and masks. 

October 2007—Attended International Mask Festival in Stourbridge UK.  Mask created for charity auction was among top 5 items in show. It garnered 168 pounds sterling for the festival.

October 2007—West Side Story Art show—Evanston, Illinois.—paintings and masks.

October-November 2001—Los Alamos, New Mexico—Making Faces—juried art show at The Art Center at Fuller Lodge –masks.

October 2001—Taos, New Mexico—First State Bank— solo mask show. 
December 2000—Los Alamos, New Mexico—16th Annual Affordable Art Benefit Sale—juried art show at The Art Center at Fuller Lodge.

 

General Information
 

I have been making masks and puppets since 1991.  I create in leather, fabric and paper mache utilizing a variety of techniques.  I have performed with hand and rod, marionette, and parade/body puppets.  I have attended mask conferences for academic theatre professionals at University of Iowa and at Southern Illinois University.  I have owned two businesses for my design work, Starflower Studio in New Mexico and currently, Hand Full of Stars Studio in Wisconsin.  I have sold masks and puppets at a variety of arts and crafts fairs including Stronghold English Faire.  I have masks currently on display at Tandy Leather in Milwaukee.  I am an ensemble member of Will Act for Food.  I have been a board member for Explosive Acts.
